Rowing Blazers’ second delivery of the season continues its “Post Ivy” theme, playing on early adulthood’s mix of melancholy and excitement in all its nostalgic forms - Yuppie culture, identity crises, and a longing to go “back to school” - and celebrating the juxtaposition of the traditional style and the youthful irony.
Three lambswool cricket sweaters - handmade in England using the most traditional four-gauge cableknit techniques, but rendered in three irreverent, slightly subversive, colorways anchor the collection.
They are supplemented by a split-color rugby, and five super heavyweight rugby jerseys in solid colors embroidered with a satin-stitch rendering of a portcullis - a medieval heraldic motif representing a gate, and also the badge of Wallingford, England, a town where RB founder Jack Carlson spent much of his rowing career. The deceptively simple but stately motif is also emblazoned on the back of two Japanese Oxford cloth button-downs and a dad hat, alongside two other new dad hats.
Rowing Blazers Fall / Winter 2019 Delivery Two is now available online and at the Rowing Blazers stores in Soho, Williamsburg, and Brentwood.
