Notes

From our friends at Artemis Design Co.--This unique style has garnered a cult following, and its limited releases are collected by fans all over the world. Our Kilim shoes are handmade from vintage, hand-sourced Turkish carpets, which means that no two pairs will ever be alike. The Kilim Loafers pictured here are the actual pair that you will receive.

Details

Leather sole with 3/4 inch heel. Handmade in Istanbul in a small, family-owned workshop, by cobblers whose families have practiced the craft for generations. Kilims are a style of textile traditionally crafted on Turkey's Anatolian peninsula using wool, cotton, or silk. Kilims are flat-woven, featuring a thin, tight weave that make them a perfect textile for crafting shoes. Every symbol, color, and pattern woven into the Kilim has meaning and represents a hope, a dream, or a story from the life of the weaver.

Size & Fit

Women's Loafers run true to size. We only make full sizes, so if you wear a half size, order the next whole size down (for example, a US 8.5 should order a 38). Expect them to feel snug at first, but stretch to a cushy custom fit after time and wear. Our Women's Loafers tend to fit best on narrow to medium width feet, but do stretch beautifully width-wise to accommodate most widths--much like a fine leather shoe.

About Artemis

We believe that beautiful vintage Kilim textiles, made largely by women artists, deserve to be repurposed and preserved for admiration and enjoyment. Artemis makes beautiful things in a slow and careful way, using a treasured team of artisan suppliers and cobblers to ensure that their chain of production is hands-on, handmade, and brings as much pride as the products themselves.
