Xl Sterling Silver Royal Marines Presentation Oar, 1931

XL Oar trophy won by Royal Marine A. J. Blackburn. These oars were awarded as presentation trophies for boat races in the army and navy in England. Mne Blackburn won this for being aboard a Cutter sailing vessel race along with his fellow marines. Made of sterling silver, this size is particularly rare and beautifully made. The Marine was a sailor on board H.M.S Sussex, and it was presented to him in 1931 Curated by Foundwell.
