The annual Varsity Race in the Netherlands is one of the most historic, prestigious rowing events in the world and home to many of the sport’s greatest and most eccentric traditions. These include the naked swim out to the victorious crew; the traditional blazer-fights; and the post-race kroegjool festivities. This year marks the 136th Varsity (fun fact: during the wars, unofficial Varsity races were held in Dutch Indonesia using makeshift boats).
