From our friends at Artemis Design Co.--Our Sumak Kilim Slides are inspired by a traditional clog silhouette, but feature a sleeker, more feminine profile. This style is very flattering with jeans, skirts, and with short skirts and tights in the cooler seasons. Our Sumak Kilim shoes are handmade from one-of-a-kind Turkish carpets, which means that no two pairs of our Kilim shoes will ever be alike. The Sumak Slides pictured here are the actual pair that you will receive.

Details

Leather sole with 1 1/4 inch heel. Handmade in Istanbul in a small, family-owned workshop, by cobblers whose families have practiced the craft for generations. Handwoven Sumak Kilim rug upper in wool and silk fibers. Sumak (also spelled Soumak, Soumakh, Sumac, and Soumac) kilims have a stronger weave and a more textural hand than other types of kilim carpets. They are known for their intricate designs that incorporate finely detailed symbols, figures, and representations of animals. The crisp and boldly contrasting blues, reds, and whites often featured in Sumak kilims make them a favorite among our community.

Please note that the Sumak textile is more structured than the Kilim or Oriental Carpet, which generally translates to a longer break-in period.

Size & Fit

The Women's Slide runs a half-size smaller than our closed-back styles, so if you usually wear a US 8.5, order a size 39, and so on. This style is most comfortable for narrow to medium widths, and will mold to the wearer's foot like all of our shoes.
